Parque España: A Spanish-themed Hotel Holiday

parqueespana-by-day

by Martin Jason L. Ita-as

Finding a good hotel in the city can be a big challenge for a lot of people, especially if they’re in the market for quality services within an urban setting. A few months ago, I had the chance to enjoy some time during the weekend in a quaint accommodation called Parque España in Alabang. I’ll be giving you a quick run-through of what I saw and experienced during my stay there.

First Impressions

Upon entering the building, the first thing I noticed was the colorful patterns of the tiled walls and floor. Definitely an eye-catcher for guests who pass through the main doors. They led me to the front desk where the receptionists were warm and kind enough to ask us about our reservations. The waiting lounge also had a series of mix-and-match furniture bunched up together, but they had an endearing charm with their classy looks. There was also a small cafe nearby for people who needed a little pick-me-up while waiting. While I wasn’t really able to try out their wares, the place seemed relaxing and cozy enough.

Big Rooms, Big Fun

The main draw for this hotel: the HUGE rooms! Originally planned as an apartment-type complex, the shift to a hotel was definitely an interesting change and gave this property a uniqueness to it. Each room is a large space with many other smaller rooms connected to a main lounging area. Businessmen from other countries could even opt to book a room for months on end if they plan to work in the Philippines for a while.

When I first stepped in, I couldn’t hold back a surprised “wow” as I was expecting something a lot more… compact. Most rooms have all of the basic amenities you could need: bathrooms, beds (sizable ones for EACH guest room), and even a separate living room and dining area for the larger units. Size aside, the colors of the rooms themselves really pop! From fiery reds to cool cyans, I was told that the palette was meant to give off the vibe of “a Spanish Fiesta”. It’s definitely a refreshing place to stay in and the extra room made me feel so free and energetic.

Entertaining Yourself

There isn’t really much to do outside of the hotel premises unless you want to take a bus towards dome of the more mall-oriented areas nearby. But if you’re planning to stay within the area, most of the entertaining things to do are in the hotel itself. Out of all the in-house facilities I visited, the bodega-style restaurant at the very top of the building felt like it had the most Spanish-styled vibe out of the entire place. From the framed arts, the knick knacks on the shelves, and, again, the bright colors, you’ll definitely be charmed by the aesthetic. The food was great too, from the regular rice and viand combo to the house specialty, Seafood Paella.

For relaxing purposes, there’s a nice little area on an elevated portion of the top floor where you can sun yourself or take a dip in the pool. While hotel rooms are a lot bigger than your usual fare, this topside lounge area is not as spacious as I would like it to be.

But even with the limited space, it’s definitely a nice area to go to when you want to have a little fresh air. The wind up there is definitely calming and the view is nice, especially at night with the surrounding lights.

Conclusion The area around Parque Espana may be a little bare of convenience stores and entertainment, but a quick bus ride to the area next door can satisfy your need for roaming and malling. As for the interior attractions of the hotel, they definitely don’t disappoint when it comes to services and spaces! I absolutely LOVE how big the rooms are. If I had the chance, I’d definitely love to spend another staycation there with some family or friends. The overall vibe of the hotel and the city is definitely a quiet and peaceful one, so people who have fast-paced and busy lives will definitely welcome this nice change if they feel overworked or burned out. In short, I highly recommend this hotel for small groups if they are looking for some bonding time or even just an escape from the busier city environment.
